Azerbaijani opposition condemns Russian aggression, official Baku keeps silentPolitics
Baku/24.02.22/ “The Russian military invasion of Ukraine is an attack on international law and universal human values. The PPFA supports the people and state of Ukraine, its just position and the world-recognised territorial integrity of the country. This war is an unconcealed act of aggression by Russia and must be condemned by all without exception,” the Party of People’s Front of Azerbaijan said in a statement.
“The aggressive war initiated by Russia will be the largest and most destructive war in the world since 1945. Russia, and Ukraine, will suffer enormous losses. The war will cause a crisis all over the world. Russia started a war not only against Ukraine but against the USA, the European Union and the entire civilized world as well,” Musavat Party head Arif Hajili noted.
In this war, he continued, Azerbaijan must unambiguously take the side of Ukraine which fights for truth, justice and the territorial integrity of its country.
Chairman of REAL Party Ilgar Mammadov told the “Voice of America” that the introduction of the Russian army on the territory of Ukraine is a violation of international law.
It can be seen that the international law is unable to protect Ukraine. Sanctions have been imposed on Russia by the USA and the European Union and this should be followed by a freezing of Russia’s membership in the Council of Europe,” Mamedov said.
Despite the outbreak of a large-scale war, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry and leadership have not made any assessments or statements. -03B-
