One person has been killed and at least five others injured in a mass stabbing attack at a casino in the heart of the Las Vegas strip – with a “bloodied” male suspect now in police custody.
Police were called to reports of a stabbing with multiple victims in front of a casino in the 3100 block of South Las Vegas Boulevard at around 11.42am on Thursday, according to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD).
At least six victims were found on the scene.
One of the victims was pronounced dead while the other five were all rushed to area hospitals. The extent of their injuries is currently unknown.
A suspect was taken into custody in front of the popular Venetian hotel and casino, with witnesses describing a man with a significant amount of blood “on his sleeves”.
It is currently unclear if the suspect was known to the victims and if the attack was targeted or random.
No details have been released to the public about the identities of the victims or the suspect.
Witnesses told 13 Action News that the stabbings unfolded across multiple locations with some of the victims believed to be showgirls who were taking photos with tourists along the strip at the time of the attack.
The public has been urged to stay away from the area as roads remain closed off and the investigation continues.
