PACE Monitoring Committee asks the Venice Commission to evaluate the law on media in AzerbaijanPolitics
Baku/07.02.22/ On February 2, the Venice Commission received a request from the Chairman of the Monitoring Committee of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, Mr. Piero Fassino. He requested the opinion of the Venice Commission on the new Azerbaijan Media Law, a message on the website of the Venice Commission.
This law was adopted in the third reading, despite the sharp criticism of experts and journalists, as reactionary.
However, the document has not yet entered into force, as it has not been signed by the head of state. -16B-
