Strategic partnership between Baku and London to grow stronger – Ambassador James SharpPolitics
Baku/12.03.22/ Britain was one of the first to recognize Azerbaijan’s independence and has always supported its sovereignty and independence. The British Ambassador, James Sharp made this statement on Friday in his speech at the solemn ceremony marking 30 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
He noted the great role of British Petroleum in strengthening bilateral ties. Cooperation in the field of energy allowed Azerbaijan to achieve economic development and prosperity, strengthen its sovereignty and independence and determine its own future, the diplomat said.
At the same time, he noted that oil and gas are not the only sphere of development of the “strategic partnership” between Great Britain and Azerbaijan.
Many large and famous buildings and objects in Baku and infrastructure projects have been implemented by British companies.
Significant achievements have been made in education and culture.
Today thousands of Azerbaijanis have been educated and continue to study in the United Kingdom, work there or have relatives there. For many Azerbaijanis the English has become their second language.
British companies are also cooperating with Azerbaijan in the green energy, de-mining of liberated territories and reconstruction of settlements.
A message of the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom to the President of Azerbaijan on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations expressed confidence that the strategic partnership of the two countries in all areas will be further strengthened, the diplomat noted. -02B-
