Moscow/03.02.22/TASS: On Wednesday, the Russian delegation will arrive at the site of a new round of talks, and will be ready to meet with representatives of Ukraine, Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation, told reporters.
“Late this afternoon, our delegation will be in place. [Will] wait for the Ukrainian negotiators. Our delegation will be ready to continue the conversation tonight,” Peskov said. To a clarifying question about the place of the new meeting, the Kremlin representative replied that he would not name it in advance.
In general, he noted the presence of “a certain element of conflicting information” in the media on the topic of negotiations. According to TASS, a new round of negotiations between the delegations of Russia and Ukraine will be held on the territory of Belarus – in Belovezhskaya Pushcha.
The Kremlin hopes that the Ukrainian side will come to the talks with the Russian delegation and that they will succeed, but will not make predictions about the prospects of this process.
“I won’t make such forecasts, I don’t have the gift of foresight,” Peskov said, answering the question of how likely the negotiation process between Moscow and Kyiv is to be successful. “First, you can probably try to predict whether the Ukrainian negotiators will come or not. Let’s hope that this will happen. Our people will be in place and will be ready to sit down at the negotiating table in the evening.”
“All the conditions necessary to resolve this situation have been quite clearly formulated by the President of Russia on several occasions. In particular, we have listed these conditions, because [Vladimir] Putin explained them in detail to his international interlocutors during telephone conversations,” Peskov said, responding to a clarifying question about what would be considered a minimum success.
Peskov also said that Russian presidential aide Vladimir Medinsky would continue to lead the Russian delegation in negotiations with Ukraine. “Yes, he remains the main Russian negotiator,” the Kremlin spokesman said. –0–
