Trump insists he won debate in Truth Social rants despite polls showing 23-point victory for Harris: Live
Donald Trump is continuing to battle the fallout from Tuesday’s presidential debate against Kamala Harris, which he was widely believed to have lost after allowing himself to be baited by the Democrat into ranting about Haitain immigrants eating domestic pets and defending the entertainment value of his political rallies.
“People are just starting to give me credit for having a GREAT DEBATE,” the Republican presidential nominee wrote on his Truth Social platform on Wednesday evening.
“The Voters and Voter Polls showed it, but the Fake News Media wasn’t giving the credit that was due. Now they are seeing the results with independent Voters, Evangelicals, and more – and saying, WOW!”
Despite Trump’s denials, three major snap polls of viewers conducted in the aftermath of the contest suggest Harris came out comfortably on top by a combined margin of 23 percentage points.
Surveys for CNN, YouGov and SoCal Strategies found the Vice President won by an average of 57 per cent to Trump’s 34 per cent.
Even prominent Republicans have admitted the GOP candidate lost, with veteran strategist Karl Rove writing in The Wall Street Journal that Trump had been “crushed by a woman he called dumb as a rock”.
