Best early portable air conditioner deals for Amazon Prime Day 2023

It’s officially summer, and while the weather has been a little gloomy these last few days, we’re in for some warm days ahead. Right about now, many of us will be scouring the internet for air conditioners and Amazon Prime Day – which is just a few weeks away now – will be the perfect opportunity to bag one with a discount.

Known as one of the biggest shopping events of the year (Black Friday still holds top spot), the Prime Day sale will be held on Tuesday 11 and Wednesday 12 July this year. And we expect prices across everything from electric toothbrushes and Amazon devices to air fryers, cordless vacuum cleaners and even Apple products to plummet.

We’re also expecting the price of portable air conditioners to fall, which is nothing but good news given they’re usually quite an investment. The best models can cost anything from £300 to £1,000, depending on the model and its British Thermal Units (BTUs) – the higher the number, the more powerful the air conditioner and the bigger the room size it can cool. So, when there’s a discount involved, our ears prick up.

On top of portable air conditioners, we’ll also be covering Prime Day deals on evaporative air coolers, which, unlike fans, also work to help bring down the temperature inside a room. Here’s everything we know about Amazon Prime Day, what deals we could expect during the two-day event and the best early offers to shop now.

Reduced by 20 per cent, this flash deal sees nearly £100 knocked off the price. De’Longhi’s compact portable air conditioning unit will keep you cool during a heatwave, thanks to the 8,300 BTU cooling capacity, three speed settings, remote control with display and timer and thermostat. Complete with dehumidifying capacity, it’s designed for year-round use. A similar De’Longhi pinguino model earned a spot in our round-up of the best AC units, so you’re in safe hands with the appliance brand.

Working to remove warm air from your living space while replacing it with cool, this portable model can run for four to five hours once it’s been fully charged. It works to humidify your room while cooling, and offers a choice of three levels of wind speed. You’ll also have the added benefit of a built-in LED light, which could create a relaxing environment in the evenings, while it’s billed for working quietly for use at night.

If you’re looking for a small air conditioning unit for your desk, this oscillating model could be just the ticket with 20 per cent off. While we haven’t tested this 18W model at IndyBest, it’s designed to cool you down as opposed to the entire room, and features three speeds, a timer function and the ability to turn 90-degrees so that you can direct the cooling effect in the perfect angle. Helpfully, the brand claims that it will work to cool you down quietly, too.

Now discounted by 7 per cent, this portable, multi-functional model features cooling and humidifying functions, and comes complete with three wind speeds with an oscillating function delivering cool air both up and down, and from side to side. It comes with a 5.5l water tank that can produce 16 hours of cooling, a seven hour timer and remote control for tweaking settings from afar. Keeping you cool in spaces of up to 215 square feet, consider this Mylek air conditioner for when temperatures soar. Complete with a remote control for convenience, it’s claimed to be energy efficient with a Class A rating. Plus, you’ll be able to put this model to use as a dehumidifier when you’re looking to remove moisture from the air, for a less stuffy, humid living space. Other helpful features include nightmode and a 24-hour timer, so you won’t leave it running longer than you really need it.

EcoFlow’s wave 2 made it into our round-up of the best portable air conditioners. Ideal for camping and travelling, it doubles up as a heater, too. You can control the air conditioner from the EcoFlow app, and, unlike many other models, it doesn’t have to be plugged into the mains, if you buy the extra battery pack. “It’s also surprisingly quiet, delivering a soft background hum that didn’t really disturb our sleep,” our writer praised in their review.

Amazon’s annual two-day shopping event will start on Tuesday 11 July, with the sale set to run right through to midnight on 12 July, meaning you have 48-hours to shop the deals.

You do. Unlike the Amazon Spring Sale earlier this year, Amazon Prime Day is an event that’s exclusive to Amazon Prime customers. An Amazon Prime membership costs £8.99 a month or £95 for a year. To sign up, just visit Amazon Prime’s landing page and enter your details.

If you haven’t been an Amazon Prime subscriber in the past 12 months, you can sign up for a 30-day free trial, so, if you time it just right, you can get in on the action before, during and after Amazon Prime Day kicks off. We’d recommend waiting for Amazon to officially announce the dates for Amazon Prime Day before you sign up for a subscription.
