Baku/01.03.22/ Representatives of 11 religious communities of the city and the region have united in Dnipro. Representatives of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Muslim communities, Greek Catholic Church, Georgian Church, Armenian Church, Muslim and Jewish communities, as well as representatives of Baptists, Pentecostals and Charismatics issued a single statement. The clerics called on the world to wake up and see that the war is raging in Ukraine.
“We cannot call an enemy a brother,” said Archpriest Vitaliy Lopushanskiy.
Ramzan Kubarov, a representative of the Muslim community, stressed that even though there is a general religious commandment “Thou shalt not kill”, there is a specification: if your family and homeland are threatened. – he said.
Metropolitan Irenaeus of Dnipropetrovsk and Pavlograd stressed that despite different religious approaches they all advocate peace.
Rabbi Alexander Fridkis noted that prayers for the welfare of Ukraine and the Ukrainian army were recited in the Jewish community.
All the clerics stressed that they all were united in their support and prayed daily for peace.-06D-
