Rovnag Abdullayev has been removed from the post of SOCAR presidentPolitics 

Baku/10.02.22/ On February 10, President Ilham Aliyev issued an order to dismiss Rovnag Abdullayev from the post of head of the state oil company SOCAR.

By another presidential decree, Abdullayev was appointed Deputy Minister of Economy.

In turn, First Deputy Minister of Economy Rovshan Najaf was appointed First Vice President of SOCAR.  He has also been appointed Acting President of SOCAR.

The head of state also appointed Elnur Aliyev as the first Deputy Minister of Economy, relieving him of the post of Deputy Minister of Economy.

Rovshan Najaf was born in 1982 in Baku. In 1997, he entered the Azerbaijan State University of Economics at the Faculty of International Economic Relations, graduated with a bachelor’s degree in 2001, and a master’s degree in 2003.

In 2007-2008, he studied at Columbia University as part of the scholarship program of the State Oil Company (SOCAR) and received a master’s degree in Economic Policy Management/International Energy management and Policy.

In 2008-2009, he worked as the Head of the Investment Contracts Department of the SOCAR Investment Department.

In 2009-2010, he was Head of the Department of Foreign Economic Relations and Assistant to the Minister of Economic Development.

In 2010-2018 he worked as Deputy Executive Director and Executive Director of JSC ”Azerbaijan Investment Company”.

By order of the President of the country dated May 11, 2018, he was appointed head of the Department of Innovative Development and e-Government of the Presidential Administration.

By order of the President of the country dated August 28, 2019, he was appointed Chairman of the Board of the Financial Monitoring Service, by order of February 11, 2020 – Deputy Minister of Economy.

On December 21, 2021, he was appointed First Deputy Minister of Economy.-06B-
