UK flooding latest – Hundreds of flood warnings in place as yellow cold alert issued
Hundreds of flood warnings and a cold weather alert have been issued as rescue missions take place around the country in the aftermath of torrential rain overnight.
The Environment Agency has issued over 500 flood alerts across England and 50 people were evacuated from Hackney Wick, London last night after the canal burst its banks.
The severe weather has caused further travel chaos as South Western Railway services are disrupted across its entire network, with major issues on its west of England routes that are expected to last throughout the day. Great Western Railway also warned there was “significant disruption” to its services.
The rising river levels saw a London party boat which is a floating bar, restaurant and nightclub sink in the River Thames amid heavy rainfall on Thursday.
Elsewhere, a major incident was declared yesterday in Nottinghamshire as residents were evacuated amid flash flooding from Storm Henk.
