Ukraine-Russia war live: Putin unleashes ‘every type of weapon’ in wave of attacks killing at least 24 people
Russia has used every sort of weapon it has to launch what is likely to be the biggest aerial bombardment since the war began, Ukraine’s president has said.
At least 24 people were killed as Moscow attacked Kyiv, Lviv, eastern Dnipro, Odesa, Zaporizhia and Kharkiv, using hypersonic, ballistic and cruise missiles, Ukrainian air forces said.
Kyiv officials say Russian President Vladimir Putin’s forces launched 158 drones and missiles overnight – which would make it the biggest air attack since the beginning of the full-scale invasion.
“Russia attacked with everything it has in its arsenal,” Volodymyr Zelensky said on the Telegram messenger.
At least 18 people have been killed, according to Reuters, but other news sources have reported that up to 22 were killed.
Local media reports also said a maternity hospital in Dnipro, central Ukraine, had come under attack.
“I wish those sounds of explosions in Ukraine could be heard all around the world,” foreign minister Dmytro Kuleba said.
Meanwhile, a young British volunteer medic, Katherine Mielniczuk, has been found dead in her bed in Kyiv.
